The march takes off from east Market street, where the city art centre is. There's lots of handy meeting points along that street

I've just noticed the time the march starts to assemble! Perhaps a bit premature for the pub!
What about outside cider's shop 'Who's Who' at the top of Cockburn street at 11.30? Then walk down to join the march assembly point at the bottom of the road?

i so wish i was going! damn holidays!! i would be red, as it's my favourite colour.
regarding skating, if you do plan on id also take shoes as it's pretty rough terrain. up hill, on the road, and then all down the royal mile cobblies
