(Heh. Nuts. )
Ahem.
So yesterday I realised that the front truck on one of my Rebel Invaders had gone all wobbly, as if it had been loosened alllll the way. Nothing looked broken, and the same amount of threads on the kingpin were showing over the nut as on the other three (still tightened) trucks. So today I took it apart and figured out that the lock nut is stuck fast on the end of the kingpin. So when I thought I was screwing the nut down tighter on the cushions, I was actually screwing the kingpin further into the plate (or something).
Now I can't get that nut off of the stupid pin, and I'm starting to panic a little. Anybody have any tips??
Thanks,
Fiction

hunny... its probably not your king pin thats the problem... you might find that your pivot pin isnt long enough... do you remember last week at practice I had a load of problems with my left skate being too squirrelly.... My pivot was all wrong... so ive readjusted the length and its waaaay more stable now! this vid helped me a LOT https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=471412905588

Nope, it's definitely the nut on the kingpin. It's totally, totally stuck. The good news is that I've managed to put it all back together and even tighten it by sort of stacking up cushions and washers and wheels and shoving the kingpin down through the whole lot, but I'll have to sort this puppy out sooner or later...
I'm loving this video though -- thanks!

I just saw this - oops, that sucks!
I don't know what to suggest, other than maybe taking it to a bike shop? They should be able to either put your entire skate into a clamp, or else remove the kingpin, and they'll put just that in the clamp. And they've got all sorts of very long-handled spanners for undoing stubborn nuts (long handle = more force).
Failing that, you should be able to order spares from Sure Grip. Or I can give you the email address of this fantastic guy in the States who has supplied loads of us with stuff - Geno. He should be able to mail you a spare kingpin.

Great suggestions- thanks!! In the meantime do you think it's okay to skate on it? I've got the whole thing reassembled and it seems solid enough, although I imagine I'll have to keep an eye on it and possibly keep re-tightening it during practice...

The one thing I might worry about is that if you keep screwing the kingpin down into the plate that you might somehow damage the threads in the socket, which will make it hard or impossible to insert a new one.
Is there a nut at the base of the kingpin right against the plate? It's quite a big one. You can tighten this down against the plate so the kingpin shouldn't work itself loose.

Yeah, there is -- I'll have a go at it... and get myself to a bike shop in the meantime. Thanks again!
