Hello!
So we have Azkaslam fast approaching *woohoo*! And we would like to hear any new suggestions of a charity to put to the vote to donate to for this one
Any that are not selected for this vote may go into votes for future bouts. Alzheimer Scotland is already on the list as is The Cyrenians and Epilepsy Scotland is another possibility, so let'shear your suggestions ladies!

I just wanted to say that you charidy ladies do a wonderful job xx I think it's nice to support small initiatives that don't necessarily have hoards of government funding etc - obviously any charity is a good cause, but sometimes it's nice to find local branches/projects for causes for who a couple of hundred squid will really help them to do something. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Don't know if this has been done/suggested but a place that is very close to my heart is St Columba's Hospice. See wee paragraph below on their Buy a Brick Appeal. St Columba's Hospice desperately needs to rebuild their hospice in order to continue to provide first class care to their patients. They still need to raise £7 million to get to their target of £26 million. Their Buy a Brick Appeal is a quick and easy way to make a donation and if you wish you can personalise your donation by including your name and a special message. If you would like to donate to this very worthwhile cause or find out more you can do so at http://www.stcolumbashospicefundraising.org.uk//

Now I feel bad for suggesting Alzheimer Scotland:
Alzheimer Scotland helps people with dementia, their carers and families. Our members include carers, relatives, people with dementia, professionals, groups and organisations.
Alzheimer Scotland is a company limited by guarantee. Registered in Scotland no. 149069. The company is recognised as a charity by the Inland Revenue. Scottish charity no. SC022315. Our registered office is Alzheimer Scotland, 22 Drumsheugh Gardens, Edinburgh EH3 7RN.
I guess a charity sadly becomes important to you sometimes when a loved one suffers from the disease/aillment.

why feel bad? Don't feel bad! This is space for everyone to suggest their fave charities for support and we'll get around to all of them hopefully. McMillan is a HUGE charity and it was nice that we gave money to that too - my Dad had cancer and so that made me happy (the us giving, not the dad dying haha) so many people have been affected by that too. I just mean I think it's nice to mix it up - and I bet there are some small initiatives or local groups we could help too; like if there was a small local community group who helped (for example) support people with Alzheimers, and didn't get any funding as such and needed like £100 to go on a day trip or something.... probably not at all practical for us to find & donate to though!! Giving to charity is good no matter who you give it to is what I'm trying to back peddle and say!! I'm going to just post a big fat and go do some work now xx

Danger i am well up for Alzheimer Scotland too! The charities are not limited to small, local based ones and people tend to support specific charities because it is close to their heart! Alzheimer had also been suggested by other people and was on the previois vote
And like Crazy said, MacMillan is big but won the vote as sadly so many people are affected by it! My gran died of cancer and my mum has been a macmillan nurse for 12 years and she also nearly died when i was 14 so regardless of their size i am a MASSIVE supporter as I know the incredible work MacMillan do!
So charities suggestions are at the discretion of the individual and any can be suggested!
Lastly, thank you Crazy!!

Maybe get 5 charities and do a poll as that seems to keep it fair x

yeah, and as has been mentioned, we are lucky that we do so many bouts/partys etc, so if a charity is not chosen this time around, then thre is plenty scope for it to be used in the future.

Yeah that's pretty much the plan! We cant have a vote with 10+ charities, so some of the unchosen from last time will be reentered plus a couple of new suggestions. Like i entered epilepsy scotland last time as not only do i work for them but they are a medium sized, very reputable charity and epilepsy is widely un-recognised as to how serious and life changing it can be for a lot of people. But as almost no one voted for it last time i will not enter it again unless requested! In contrast Cyrenians and Alzheimer S got a good amount of votes so they deserve a second shot!
